Class Descriptions:

Taoist Yoga – Based on Eastern systems of medicine and healing, this class is the ideal blend of yin and yang.  Yang refers to the fluid movement sequences and strong poses challenge the muscular tissues of the body, mobilizing the energy and lifting the spirit.  Each Taoist yoga practice will also include passive, relaxed Yin poses for deep tissue stretching, and time for relaxation and meditation.

Yin Yoga – This form of Taoist yoga is a slow, relaxed practice holding postures for three to five minutes at a time. It is the ideal complement for more dynamic or “Yang” forms of yoga that emphasize muscles. A Yin yoga practice emphasizes stretching and stimulating deep connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. This style of practice is not only therapeutic for the body, it also allows for a calming of the mind and spirit. By drawing the student’s awareness away from the muscles and deeper into the bones a profound level of relaxed focus is achieved.

Core Yoga - blends Yoga and Pilates based moves to strengthen the core using breath and body consciousness. Sun salutations and standing poses build heat and strength through fluid movement while deeper stretches focus on flexibility and body awareness. CORE Yoga offers a FUN full-body workout.

Power Lunch Hour - This class is guaranteed to energize your afternoon! A playful combination of multiple styles of yoga, adapted to the unique needs of each class.  Don't work through lunch, workout!

Yoga for Beginners - Learn the foundations of yoga in a relaxed, supportive environment. If you are new to yoga, or you want to develop your strength and stamina at a slower pace, you will enjoy this class.

Ashtanga Flow This style of yoga is characterized by a focus on vinyasa, or a dynamic connecting posture, that creates a flow between the more static traditional yoga postures. Vinyasa translates as linking and the system also implies the linking of the movement to the breath. Essentially the breath dictates the movement and the length of time held in the postures. Unlike some Hatha yoga styles, attention is also placed on the journey between the postures not just the postures themselves.

Meditation – Perhaps the most important human endeavor, definitely the most challenging, meditation practice is easiest to learn with guidance. While there are many styles and techniques of meditation, this practice will emphasize the common elements of all traditions.  Class will include both guided practice and silent group meditation.  No prior experience necessary.

Pilates - Focuses on strengthening the core postural muscles to keep the body balanced and provide support for the spine.  Learn awareness of breath and alignment of the spine to strengthen the deep torso muscles,  add awareness to core strength and stabilization, while listening to your bodies.

Pilates on the Ball - By appointment only - call 513.227.7160.  Maximize your workout by adding the stability ball to classical pilates exercises! Inserting props into classical pilates mat work can provide an extra challenge and keep things interesting! Using the stability ball is an additional way to enhance posture, balance, strength, and flexibility. Like in traditional mat classes, we will use pilates breathwork while focusing on core muscles. This is an ideal class for people with back pain or who sit at a desk or drive in a car for extended periods of time.
